About the position

The Java Backend Developer position is a long-term contract opportunity at a prominent financial services company. The role involves working with a team of developers to create and maintain cloud-native applications, utilizing Java and related technologies. The position emphasizes collaboration with various stakeholders and requires a strong background in software engineering, particularly in Java development and microservices architecture.

Responsibilities

• Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Specialty Software Engineering.
• Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale, or longer-term Specialty Software Engineering challenges.
• Contribute to the resolution of complex situations requiring a solid understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience or equivalent through work, consulting, training, military experience, or education.
• 12+ years of experience in Java development, including coding, unit testing, and functional automation using Micro Services, Java Spring Boot, and REST API.
• Expertise in Java 11/17, object-oriented design, programming designs, and design patterns.
• Experience in code management and build/deploy tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, and UDeploy.
• Strong working knowledge of building cloud-native applications on Pivot Cloud Foundry (PCF) or Microsoft Azure.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Experience working in a team of 10+ developers and building rapport with Scrum stakeholders.
