About the position

The Java/Big Data Developer role at a global bank in Tampa, FL, is a contract position with a strong possibility of extension. The developer will work on the Regulatory Reporting suite of application development projects, collaborating with a team of experienced professionals in a hybrid work environment. This position offers an opportunity to leverage extensive Java and Big Data technologies to design, develop, and optimize distributed applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy Java based distributed applications.
• Work with large data sets to extract insights and meaningful information.
• Optimize application performance and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of proven project experience.
• 6+ years of practical Java application design and development experience.
• 6+ years of strong Java experience.
• Experience with Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Spring.
• Strong background in developing scalable, efficient high-quality distributed software applications using Java and related technologies.
• 6+ years of experience in software development with a focus on Java and related technology.
• 4+ years of experience in Big Data technologies like Spark/Kafka/Hadoop/Spring framework.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies, including data modeling, query writing, indexing, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented analysis, design patterns, high availability, and concurrent programming.
• Deep understanding of multithreading and ability to identify issues during execution of multithreading applications.
• Exposure to development of microservices based components using the Java stack.
• Experience with source code management tools such as SVN, GIT, Bit Bucket.
• Familiarity with build tools like Maven and Ant, and experience using Sonar and Jenkins.
• Experience in working on large-scale global projects.

Nice-to-haves

• 1+ years of experience in Python.
• MongoDB and Elasticsearch experience.
• Experience in the financial industry.
• Understanding of capital markets and financial derivatives (rates or other).
• Experience in Python, UI design, JavaScript, and Angular charting, Graph.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Test-driven development, including Unit and End-to-End Testing.
