About the position

The Cloud Application Migration Specialist at LTIMindtree is responsible for leading the migration of Java applications from PCF/TAS/TKGI environments to the OpenShift Container Platform. This role involves analyzing, designing, and implementing solutions for application migration while optimizing and refactoring applications for containerized environments. The specialist will collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness of migrated applications, while also providing technical documentation and post-migration support.

Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of Java applications from PCF/TAS/TKGI environments to OpenShift Container Platform using tools such as RedHat MTA and Konveyor Move2Kube.
• Analyze, design, and implement solutions for migrating applications, considering application dependencies, performance requirements, and security standards.
• Optimize and refactor Java applications for containerized environments to improve scalability, performance, and reliability on OpenShift.
• Develop and utilize automation scripts and tools to streamline migration processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure consistency.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps, Platform, and Application Development teams to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and operational readiness of migrated applications.
• Conduct assessments, gather requirements, and provide guidance on best practices and industry standards for Java applications on OpenShift.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application dependencies, runtime errors, networking, and configuration management.
• Create and deliver technical documentation, migration plans, and post-migration support materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Java application development, architecture, and deployment in cloud or containerized environments.
• Deep understanding of Java runtime environments, application servers (e.g., WebSphere Liberty, Apache Tomcat), and J2EE architectures.
• Hands-on experience with PCF/TAS/TKGI and OpenShift Container Platform, with a proven track record of successful migrations.
• Proficiency in containerization technologies, such as Docker, and orchestration tools, especially Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Helm for application packaging.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, Tekton, Harness).
• Strong experience in troubleshooting, profiling, and performance tuning of Java applications in a Kubernetes environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds.
