About the position

The Java Developer position at Oxford Global Resources involves creating user information solutions through the development, implementation, and maintenance of Java-based components and interfaces. The role requires analyzing user requirements, designing user interfaces, and integrating applications while ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Define site objectives by analyzing user requirements and envisioning system features and functionality.
  • Design and develop user interfaces for internet/intranet applications, setting expectations and feature priorities throughout the development life cycle.
  • Determine design methodologies and tool sets; complete programming using languages and software products; design and conduct tests.
  • Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.
  • Integrate applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; establish connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers.
  • Create multimedia applications using authoring tools.
  • Complete applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities.
  • Contribute to team meetings.
  • Troubleshoot development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  • Support users by developing documentation and assistance tools.
  • Update job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
  • Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Java and Java Applets
  • Strong web programming skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience in web user interface design
  • Understanding of software requirements
  • Familiarity with the software development process
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design (OOD)
  • Experience in multimedia content development
  • Proficient in software debugging
