About the position

The Java Developer Algo Tech, AVP role at Barclays Services LLC focuses on supporting software applications for Rates and Cash Equities businesses within Algorithmic Trading Technology. The position involves designing, developing, and improving software solutions that enhance business capabilities and technology for clients and colleagues. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery and adherence to secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support software applications for Rates and Cash Equities businesses in Algorithmic Trading Technology.
  • Develop software applications and tools to mimic orders sent from UI for testing purposes.
  • Create a next generation electronic Trading platform for rates asset class.
  • Develop Java projects from scratch based on business requirements.
  • Create automated testing tools to assess functionality, performance, and capacity of code.
  • Take ownership of developed components and support production issues.
  • Interpret buy/sell orders raised by traders and consult real-time market data.
  • Send orders to markets while managing market risks and adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Java development and software engineering.
  • Strong understanding of algorithmic trading and financial markets.
  • Experience with automated testing and performance optimization.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and risk management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic trading platforms and market data systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in trading environments.
