The position is for a software developer with a focus on application development and support, specifically in a Big Data environment. The role is based in Washington, DC, and is expected to last for a duration of 12 months. The candidate will work under the supervision of an application Technical Lead and will be responsible for developing and delivering defined functionality based on established technical specifications. The candidate should have a strong understanding of Agile development practices and will be required to build, unit, and system test application code. Post-implementation support is also a key aspect of the role, which includes debugging, fixing issues, and participating in maintenance releases as directed by management. The successful candidate will interact effectively with various stakeholders, including project managers, developers, technical leads, and technical operations teams. The role requires hands-on coding in Java, JDBC, Cassandra, Storm, Perl, Shell scripting, and Oracle. The candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of applications such as BCM, ExSight, and GPP, and will engage in day-to-day interactions with clients to gather and understand their requirements. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in high-level and detailed design using the specified technologies and will provide production support for existing applications, as well as support QA and UAT testing.
