About the position

We are seeking a hands-on Java developer/architect to join our team in building a cross-business, intra-day risk platform from the ground up. This platform will address the intra-day risk requirements of various Global Markets businesses, focusing on counterparty risk, market risk, balance sheet risk, compliance risk, and more. The role requires primarily in-office work with some flexible work opportunities available.

Responsibilities

• Influence the architecture and technical design of the cross asset Front Office Position and Risk platform.
• Participate in defining the technical stack for the risk platform, balancing cutting-edge and traditional technologies.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and front office risk and analytics teams to create solutions for trading requirements.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and work with senior managers to drive their adoption within the group.
• Promote an agile development model and support.
• Deliver high-quality technical solutions for evolving requirements under compressed timeframes.
• Participate in periodic code reviews focusing on functional integrity, extensibility, and scalability.

Requirements

• Proven track record in building scalable, mission-critical IT platforms for the financial services industry.
• Expert level proficiency in Object Oriented (OO) programming, design patterns, and related paradigms.
• High level of proficiency in Core Java, Spring Framework, REST Services, SQL, Messaging, and Test Driven Development using JUnit.
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills.
• Full stack experience including Javascript UI frameworks such as ReactJS is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree or other demonstrable qualifications gained through work experience.
• 5+ years work experience as a software developer is preferred.
