About the position

The Java Developer I position at Epsilon, Inc. is an entry-level role focused on developing and maintaining Java-based applications and data integration solutions. The role involves collaborating with senior team members throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC) in a hybrid work environment, contributing to the mission of the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) by providing high-quality IT support.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and TIBCO integrations in a high-volume, low-latency environment.
• Troubleshoot real-time system issues and provide timely support.
• Participate in all stages of the SDLC, including design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Implement unit tests and automated tests to ensure code quality.
• Apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and standard design patterns.
• Work with web services, REST APIs, and technologies like XML, JSON, and HTML.
• Use version control tools (e.g., Git) and build tools (e.g., Ant, Maven, Gradle).
• Collaborate with teams to gather requirements and define business processes.
• Adhere to Agile methodologies and participate in team activities (e.g., sprints).
• Support software releases and contribute to continuous improvement processes.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
• Knowledge of Java programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Familiarity with TIBCO systems or a strong willingness to learn.
• Exposure to web services (REST, XML, JSON) and web technologies like HTML.
• Experience with code versioning tools such as Git (academic or project work counts).
• Basic understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., sprints, daily stand-ups).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (willingness to learn if no prior experience).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on debugging and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow guidance from senior developers.
• Eagerness to learn and grow with new technologies, tools, and best practices.
