About the position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Java Developer II / III (REMOTE) opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. The Java Developer will provide support to the Business System IT department, engaging in various functions that include developing and maintaining applications that support the company's business departments such as Accounting, Procurement, Human Resources, and Project Controls. The role will utilize an Agile development methodology to ensure efficient and effective application development. In this position, the Java Developer will be responsible for developing interfaces between enterprise systems and in-house applications. They will also perform initial developer testing, collaborating with customers and Business Analysts to resolve issues that arise during user acceptance testing. Additionally, the Java Developer will support QA Analysts in developing fully documented test plans, ensuring that all applications meet the required standards before deployment. The position is open to candidates at two levels: Java Developer II and Java Developer III, each with specific educational and experience requirements. The Java Developer II requires a minimum of three years of experience, while the Java Developer III requires at least five years of experience in application development, testing, and documentation. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Java, Servlets, JSPs, Maven, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies, with a strong emphasis on secure coding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications that support various business departments using Agile methodology.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field with a minimum of three years of experience for Java Developer II.
• Associate degree in Computer Science or equivalent field with a minimum of five years of experience for Java Developer II.
• High School diploma with a minimum of seven years of experience for Java Developer II.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field with a minimum of five years of experience for Java Developer III.
• Associate degree in Computer Science or equivalent field with a minimum of seven years of experience for Java Developer III.
• High School diploma with a minimum of nine years of experience for Java Developer III.
• Demonstrated experience in application development, test plan development, testing, production turnover, and documentation.
• Experience with Java, Servlets, JSPs, Maven, JavaScript, Eclipse, HTML, XML, CSS, SQL data manipulation, and secure coding techniques.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Tomcat, jQuery, and Open-Source Libraries.
