About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer with expertise in Spring Boot and API development to join our client's team within the banking industry. This contract W2 only position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, building robust applications and solutions that drive critical financial services. As a hybrid role, you must be able to work onsite in Buffalo, NY, three days per week, with two days remote, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications using Spring Boot framework.
  • Build, integrate, and manage RESTful APIs to support seamless communication between systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and scalability of applications through rigorous testing and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain secure, efficient, and reusable code adhering to industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and API issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, standups, retrospectives) to deliver high-quality software in iterative cycles.
  • Provide support and mentoring to junior developers as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Java development.
  • Proficiency in Spring Boot for application development.
  • Strong experience with RESTful API design, development, and integration.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or other API testing/documentation tools.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and implementation.
  • Solid understanding of security practices in API development (e.g., OAuth, JWT).
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
