About the position

This position is responsible for coding, modifying, debugging, and documenting software applications that best support business requirements. The role involves working on moderately complex applications and requires a combination of technical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop, modify, debug and evaluate moderately complex software for functional areas.
  • Analyze existing software or work to formulate logic for moderately complex new systems and devise moderately complex algorithms.
  • Perform data analysis and test/debug software.
  • Design and apply basic data sources and apply effective programming security practices.
  • Execute test plans and develop conversion and system implementation plans.
  • Regularly create and execute unit tests and employ source code control techniques.
  • Assist with successful configuration management and gather/analyze data to prepare system and programming documentation.
  • Assist with implementation of changes in development, maintenance, and system standards and in the creation of software specifications.
  • Regularly report progress on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field OR 4 years of relevant experience OR a combination of college education and relevant work experience equivalent to 4 years.
  • Typically 2 - 5 years of development experience.
  • Knowledge of secure software development.
  • Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification, and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  • Experience with common programming tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels within IT.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Work under general supervision with few direct instructions.
