Java Developer - Telematics (Bilingual Korean/English)

About the position

WOONGJIN, Inc. is seeking a skilled software engineer to prepare technical designs and develop telematics product features using Java/J2EE and database technologies. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with product management teams to translate telematics feature specifications into high-quality, timely deliverables. This role requires a strong hands-on technical member in telematics product development activities, developing service and client-side code and database scripts that can support high-volume transactions. The engineer will produce clean, unit-tested, and refactored code as needed, actively analyze and troubleshoot production issues, and design solutions to stabilize new products in production. Additionally, the role involves analyzing production issues, reporting trends, and providing recommendations for improvements. The engineer will also maintain knowledge of current production systems and best practices, interact with project teams for new product development, and provide insights from technical issues of previous products.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical design and develop telematics product features using Java/J2EE and database technologies.
• Collaborate with product management teams to translate telematics feature specifications into high-quality deliverables.
• Develop service and client-side code and database scripts for high-volume transactions.
• Produce clean, unit-tested, and refactored code as required.
• Analyze and troubleshoot production issues, designing solutions to fix defects and stabilize new products.
• Analyze production issues and ticket trends, providing recommendations for improvements.
• Triage and track production issues, create and maintain tickets, and follow up with vendors.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to satisfy customer requests and provide resolution strategies.
• Identify root causes of technical issues and document root cause analysis (RCA).
• Coordinate problem management and facilitate recurring meetings with management stakeholders.
• Maintain knowledge of current production systems and implement best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant field.
• 7+ years of experience in development and design with Java, J2EE, and database technologies.
• Minimum of 2 years in a similar role supporting and interfacing with management.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of SOA vs microservices and their appropriate application.
• Ability to learn or pre-existing knowledge of connected car architecture and systems integration.
• Experience writing and maintaining functional and technical design documents using UML or EA.
• Experience with Jenkins, JIRA, Eclipse, Git, Bitbucket, Unix.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies for web and smartphone applications.
• Familiarity with SSL/TLS certificate technologies.
• Good understanding of networking protocols.
