About the position

As a Java Developer Expert at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and security of our nation. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, tailoring cutting-edge applications to meet the unique needs of our clients. With a focus on application development, you will prioritize the end-user experience while also advancing your career growth within the organization. In this position, you will be responsible for providing enterprise system support through your expertise in Java application integration and Java enterprise services on an AWS platform. You will research, design, develop, and modify enterprise-wide systems and applications software, formulating and defining system scope and objectives through thorough research and fact-finding. Your role will involve translating software requirements into maintainable solutions within existing application frameworks and implementing the product lifecycle, which includes design, development, quality assurance, deployment, and maintenance. You will also be expected to develop and adhere to best practices for application development, continuously contributing to team performance improvement and collaboration. Your ability to creatively and effectively solve problems will be essential in this role, as you work within an Agile/Scrum development process to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software
  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems
  • Translates software requirements into working and maintainable solutions within the existing application frameworks
  • Implements the product's lifecycle: Design, development, quality, deployment and maintenance
  • Develops and adheres to best-practices for developing applications
  • Continuously contribute to team performance improvement and collaboration
  • Solves problems creatively and effectively

Requirements

  • Education: BS in Computer Science or related field
  • Required Experience: 15+ years of related experience
  • Front End Skills: Single Page Applications (ReactJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML), Responsive Design
  • Back End Skills: Microservices, REST, Node.js, JVM (Java - Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, etc.), Database (Postgres, MySQL, etc.)
  • Build Tools: maven, gradle, grunt, gulp, git, tactical and strategic improvements to large scale Java/J2EE/ products
  • Documented Experience with DevOps, CI/CD Routine
  • Documented Experience with Amazon Web Services (S3, RDS, EC2, ECS)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI w/Polygraph

Nice-to-haves

  • Front End Skills: Angular, Salesforce
  • Documented Experience with Amazon Web Services (Lambda, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Docker, Ansible
  • Documented Experience with Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Excellent skills in RDBMS DB Schema design and SQL development
