About the position

The position involves creating user information solutions through the development, implementation, and maintenance of Java-based components and interfaces. The role requires defining site objectives by analyzing user requirements and envisioning system features and functionality. The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing user interfaces for internet and intranet applications, setting expectations, and prioritizing features throughout the development life cycle. This includes determining design methodologies and tool sets, completing programming using various languages and software products, and designing and conducting tests to ensure functionality and performance. Additionally, the role involves recommending system solutions by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of custom development versus purchasing alternatives. The candidate will integrate applications by designing database architecture and server scripting, studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers. The creation of multimedia applications using authoring tools is also part of the job. The candidate will complete application development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities, and will contribute to team meetings to ensure alignment and progress. Troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms is a key responsibility, as is supporting users by developing documentation and assistance tools. The candidate is expected to update their job knowledge by researching new internet and intranet technologies and software products, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Enhancing the organization's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments is also essential.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in Java and Java Applets.
  • Strong web programming skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in web user interface design.
  • Understanding of software requirements and the software development process.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design (OOD).
  • Experience in multimedia content development.
  • Strong software debugging skills.
