About the position

Akkodis is seeking a Java Developer for a contract position with a client located in Rochester, NY. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining java-based applications and APIs. This role requires a strong background in software engineering and java development, with an emphasis on writing clean and maintainable code. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and will be expected to collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to deliver effective technology solutions. Additionally, the candidate will troubleshoot issues with the existing codebase and implement automated testing and unit tests for the frontend to ensure code quality. The role also involves creating build pipelines and automating the deployment of code, requiring the ability to work independently and efficiently. To qualify for this position, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and a minimum of six years of related experience. Proficiency in Spring and Spring Boot is essential, along with experience in NoSQL databases. Knowledge of containerization platforms such as OpenShift and an understanding of distributed messaging systems like Kafka are also required. Familiarity with build tools, Agile methodologies, and release pipelines using Kubernetes and OpenShift will be beneficial for this role.
