About the position

The Java FSD Architect with AWS and Capital Market experience is responsible for leading a team of developers to build an application development platform. This role involves collaborating with development teams to identify and prioritize strategies that align with business needs, defining strategic directions, and developing tactical plans. The architect will also engage in hands-on contributions to critical projects, ensuring that business requirements are translated into functional components while optimizing performance and implementing modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of developers in building the application development platform composed of Java developers.
• Collaborate with development teams to identify patterns and strategies for the platform and prioritize them based on business needs.
• Define strategic direction and develop tactical plans for the platform.
• Work with application and infrastructure teams to provision platform components.
• Augment critical projects through direct involvement and hands-on contributions such as prototyping and developing critical modules.
• Work through all aspects of solutioning from requirements design and build through deployment and evolution.
• Translate business requirements into working foundational components for the platform, ensuring functional and nonfunctional aspects are met.
• Identify opportunities for change, implement changes, and introduce new concepts, procedures, policies, and tools with clear explanations of benefits and purpose.
• Work with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams, leading by example to other application development groups.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience in full stack solution design and implementation.
• Proven ability to design and implement high-performance enterprise-scale distributed systems.
• Strong grasp of integration patterns, endpoint messaging, streaming, callbacks, and the trade-offs associated with each approach.
• Knowledge of API platform engineering fundamentals, including Open API spec, API gateways, and OAuth integration.
• Experience with profiling and performance optimization, including threading, memory management, and JVM optimization.
• Experience building and implementing solutions for containerized environments, ideally OnPrem Cloud.
• Ability to design and build low latency applications.
• Experience with microservices architecture, including defining application boundaries and service mesh.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD, observability, and containerization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with public clouds, ideally AWS.
• Industry knowledge in the financial industry, particularly in capital markets and wealth management.
