About the position

The Software Engineer - Search Engineer (Java) position is focused on developing and implementing online applications, microservices, and APIs. This role requires advanced specialization in software engineering, with responsibilities that include mentoring team members and leading projects. The position is based in Chicago, IL and involves working onsite, contributing to strategic and complex undertakings within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement online applications, microservices, and APIs.
  • Mentor less experienced team members and lead projects.
  • Apply independent judgment and creativity to solve complex problems.
  • Participate in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Create coding solutions to address moderate issues.
  • Promote high-quality standards in documentation, unit testing, code reviews, and test automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering, or a similar field, or a High School/GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience writing code for applications or automation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages for online applications, microservices, APIs, or mobile applications.
  • Experience in building and testing applications or automation.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to create coding solutions to fix moderate problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with Kubernetes platform on microservices architecture for high-traffic applications.
  • Prior experience mentoring a team of engineers or leading an engineering team.
  • Hands-on proficiency in full-stack technologies (Java, NodeJS, SQL, NoSQL, React, JavaScript, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge in cloud technologies like Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, AWS, or Cloud Foundry.
