About the position

The Java Mainframe Developer role involves designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications within a mainframe environment. The position requires strong Java and database skills, along with familiarity with mainframe systems and web services. The developer will work closely with mainframe teams to translate business logic into Java implementations and ensure high-quality code through reviews and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications within a mainframe environment.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to interact with DB2 databases.
• Collaborate with mainframe teams to understand COBOL code and translate business logic into Java implementations.
• Develop and consume web services to integrate with other systems.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience coding in Java.
• 5+ years of experience with DB2 and SQL, including strong database querying abilities.
• 3+ years of experience working within a mainframe environment, including the ability to read and understand COBOL code.
• Experience developing and consuming web services using Java.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with UI creation using Angular or React.
