About the position

The Java Production Support role is focused on ensuring the availability and performance of Java applications in a production environment. This position involves monitoring applications, managing incidents, performing root cause analysis, and providing ongoing support and maintenance for Java-based systems. The role requires collaboration with various teams to resolve issues and optimize application performance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Java applications in the production environment to ensure their availability and performance.
  • Handle production incidents by performing triage, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within SLAs.
  • Actively respond to alerts and production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact.
  • Collaborate with other teams to escalate and resolve complex issues when necessary.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents and ensure preventive actions are implemented to avoid future occurrences.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to detect issues early.
  • Provide day-to-day support for Java-based applications, handling requests and tickets from end-users and internal teams.
  • Implement fixes, patches, and updates to the production environment in collaboration with the development team.
  • Support deployment activities for new releases, ensuring smooth and error-free rollouts.
  • Analyze and optimize the performance of Java applications, identifying and addressing bottlenecks, memory leaks, and other performance issues.
  • Work with database and infrastructure teams to ensure efficient use of system resources.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Java and Java-based technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate) and related technologies.
  • Experience with Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning, thread dumps, and heap memory analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with application servers such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss, or WebLogic.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) and experience in writing SQL queries.
  • Ability to troubleshoot database-related performance issues.
