About the position

ThunderYard is seeking a talented Software Engineer to help convert functionality in a GUI application to a web-based application that can be utilized by other applications, positively impacting the lives of millions of veterans. The role requires a creative engineer with experience in developing high-quality products on schedule, strong communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in requirements analysis
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture
  • Participate in Agile SCRUM ceremonies including Story Point Estimation, Backlog Grooming, Sprint/Release Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Write clean, scalable code based on requirements and design
  • Unit Test and deploy applications and systems
  • Revise, update, refactor and debug code
  • Improve existing software
  • Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Serve as an expert on applications and provide technical support

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a business or technical discipline
  • 5 years of experience as a developer, or 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
  • Proven work experience as a developer adhering to design best practices
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with React and NodeJS
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills
  • Familiarity with modern source control systems, such as GitHub
  • Ability to understand front-end users' requirements and a problem-solving attitude
  • High standards, results-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality software on time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • 6+ months of experience working with VistA integration development
  • Prior experience with tools such as Jira, Service Now, and GitHub
  • Familiarity with APIs
  • Experience with web-based development
  • Experience with Delphi development
  • VA or other Federal Government experience
