About the position

The JavaScript Developer position at W2 is a long-term role based in Dallas, Texas, focused on developing and optimizing web applications within the retail, technology, marketing, and e-commerce industries. The role requires a strong proficiency in JavaScript and related technologies, with an emphasis on analytics and performance optimization to enhance user experience and data tracking capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Implement and manage analytics tracking using Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager.
• Optimize web performance and ensure analytics tags do not negatively impact load times.
• Utilize debugging tools to troubleshoot and resolve issues in web applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
• Ensure compliance with privacy regulations related to data tracking and storage.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in JavaScript development.
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and DOM manipulation.
• Experience with Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, and other analytics platforms.
• Solid understanding of dataLayer concepts and custom event tracking.
• Familiarity with web performance optimization and how analytics tags affect load times.
• Experience with debugging tools such as Chrome Developer Tools, Postman, or Analytics Debugger.
• Understanding of cookies, browser storage, and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Knowledge of APIs to pull data from analytics tools into dashboards (e.g., Google Data Studio, Tableau).
• Strong analytical mindset, able to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with A/B testing platforms (e.g., Optimizely, VWO, Google Optimize).
• Understanding of SQL and data querying for deeper analysis.
• Knowledge of React, Vue.js, or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Previous experience in e-commerce, digital marketing, or a similar environment.
