About the position

ECS is seeking a JavaScript Developer to work in our Albuquerque, NM office, supporting our Mission Customer Engagement team that empowers mission-focused scientific and engineering communities. We are dedicated to delivering essential support through our diverse capabilities and resources, including application engineering solutions, a high-end mission service desk, and long-term mass storage systems. Our commitment is to actively engage with our mission customers, identify emerging needs, and invest in opportunities that advance our collective mission. On any given day, you may be asked to collaborate with others to investigate, plan, gather requirements, design, develop, test, document, analyze problems, and support software systems and applications. The role involves developing high-performance web applications using JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js, and Node. You will work closely with customers and end-users to define and document application requirements, test, debug, and refactor frontend and backend web application code, and translate detailed designs into application systems. Additional responsibilities include preparing required documentation, enhancing applications to improve performance and add functionality, and providing interactive issue troubleshooting. You will follow user issue tickets through to resolution, document resolutions in a knowledge base, and work with application and system owners to identify advanced solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-performance web applications using JavaScript (React, Vue.js, Node)
  • Work closely with customers and end-users to define and document application requirements
  • Test, debug, and refactor frontend and backend web application code
  • Translate detailed design into application systems
  • Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation
  • Enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality
  • Provide interactive issue troubleshooting, following user issue tickets through to resolution
  • Document resolutions in a knowledge base
  • Work with application and system owners to identify advanced solutions

Requirements

  • BS/BA & 2 Years experience. OR 6 years' experience in lieu of degree plus an additional 2 years' experience
  • US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q security clearance
  • Experience with software engineering standard methodologies
  • Experience with Linux, Mac or MS-Windows operating systems
  • Experience with some or all of the following: JavaScript (pre-ES6 and ES6/7), React, Next.js, Node, HTML/CSS, Git, MySQL, SQL, MongoDB
  • Familiar with testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright)
  • Experience with automation, orchestration, continuous integration, and continuous delivery including tools such as Docker, GitLab CI, Openshift
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify creative solutions
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and motivated to continuously improve processes and skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and prioritization skills

  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and apply detailed data into useful information, such as documentation and developing policies, processes and procedures
