About the position

The ideal candidate for the Java SDET Data Quality Engineer position will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and quality of data within our trading stack. This position requires a strong foundation in SQL and programming languages such as Java or Python, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders. The candidate will be responsible for investigating issues that arise in the trading stack, utilizing SQL to diagnose problems, and communicating with the necessary teams to facilitate timely resolutions. In addition to troubleshooting, the candidate will interpret Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and engage with stakeholders to verify the accuracy of written business procedures. Keeping clients informed about ongoing development work is also a key responsibility. The role demands a proactive approach to contributing to the automation codebase, enhancing our systems through development in Java or Python. The candidate will also be tasked with tracking identified issues using JIRA and managing data across multiple databases, including MYSQL and Oracle. A background in business, particularly from a major financial institution, is preferred, as it will provide valuable context for the responsibilities of this role. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to present findings and results to senior stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating issues in our trading stack using SQL to diagnose the loci of the issues and subsequently communicating with teams needed to fix issues as they arise
  • Interpreting Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
  • Communicating with stakeholders to determine accuracy of written business procedures
  • Communicating with clients to keep them abreast of development work
  • Contributing to our automation codebase through development in Java/Python
  • Keeping track of issues identified using JIRA and multiple databases (MYSQL/Oracle)

Requirements

  • Intermediate SQL experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced coding in Java/Python or any other OOP
  • Strong communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance/Economics/Computer Science/Information Systems or related fields
  • Preference given to advanced degree holders

Nice-to-haves

  • Financial Knowledge
