About the position

Vangarde is currently seeking an individual with a strong background in software engineering to support web and desktop applications for a large enterprise. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in producing system architectures that meet the functional requirements established by the Program Management Office. This position involves documenting both planned and existing system architectures, identifying deficiencies in system architecture and source code, and developing effective solutions to address these issues. The candidate will also be responsible for planning software releases and designing, developing, testing, and debugging software and database changes. The role requires executing all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and designing features and improvements based on customer feedback. Additionally, the candidate will perform unit testing, write software documentation guides, and implement compliance with U.S. Air Force standards for software development and maintenance. It is essential to apply relevant Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and assess the impact of proposed changes in terms of hours, cost, and potential disruption to customers. The technologies used in this position include Java, Oracle Database, SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, UNIX, JavaScript, and Git Hub Repository. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of these technologies and be able to leverage them effectively in their work.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • CompTIA CASP+ or (ISC)² CSSLP Certification
  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • 3+ years of experience with Java
  • Software validation and testing experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment to make appropriate decisions that support overall project objectives
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and resolve issues in a short time frame
  • Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Must have and maintain a Secret security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Air Force Information Technology environment
  • Experience working with the U.S. Air Force as a civilian, contractor, or service member
