About the position

The Java Software Developer will be part of a team responsible for developing applications for a large command and control system that supports the nation's Missile Defense System. This role requires a strong foundation in software engineering, particularly in Java, and involves working in an Agile development environment. The position is based in Huntsville, AL, and requires on-site presence with no remote work options.

Responsibilities

• Develop applications for a large command and control system in support of the Missile Defense System.
• Participate in Agile development processes.
• Create automated test scripts and contribute to pipeline development.
• Work on software application development for Unix/Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
• Utilize development and management tools such as Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Gradle, and Eclipse.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
• 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree.
• Department of Defense Secret security clearance required at time of hire.
• Knowledge of basic software development practices in coding standards and configuration management.
• Experience in software engineering and development in Java.
• Experience in developing enterprise applications.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Command and Control application development.
