About the position

Northstrat is seeking a Java Software Engineer to join an agile development team focused on building and maintaining a software suite that supports Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) analysis. The role involves participating in the agile development process, collaborating with operational users, and solving complex problems using the latest technologies to create innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the agile development process to design, develop, and maintain software capabilities.
  • Solve unique and complex problems using the latest technologies.
  • Integrate multiple applications using workflow charts and diagrams.
  • Build scalable solutions to mission problems.
  • Assign, coordinate, and review the work of developer personnel.
  • Develop and implement software enhancements to mission systems in government agencies.
  • Utilize rapid prototyping and agile-based software development methodologies.
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug software with logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Work with RDNS and NoSQL databases, specifically Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, Kafka, and NiFi automation.
  • Use continuous integration and software configuration management processes/tools.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret or Top-Secret SCI clearance, Polygraph preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development (analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance).
  • Experience developing with Java and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience developing and implementing software enhancements to mission systems in government agencies.
  • Experience integrating multiple applications using workflow charts and diagrams.
  • Experience building scalable solutions to mission problems.
  • Experience assigning, coordinating, and reviewing the work of developer personnel.
  • Experience using rapid prototyping and agile-based software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Java-based technologies for building DevOps pipelines.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code applications (Chef, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
  • Experience in microservice-based architectures.
  • Experience with continuous integration and software configuration management processes/tools (Subversion, GIT, JIRA, Confluence).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment preferred.
  • CISSP or Security+ Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • AWS Certification (Developer, DevOps, and/or Architect, etc.).
