About the position

The Java UI Developer position is a hybrid role focused on supporting the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Development and Maintenance programs. The developer will work closely with project teams, UI/UX designers, and business analysts to create and maintain reusable UI components that adhere to accessibility standards, ensuring they are performant, scalable, and robust. Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 and ADA compliance is essential, as all development will be tested for accessibility using Jaws reader and various browser plugins.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reusable UI components that are accessible, performant, scalable, and robust.
• Collaborate with development project teams, UI/UX designers, and business analysts.
• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 and ADA standards in all development work.
• Test all development for accessibility using Jaws reader and browser plugins.

Requirements

• Strong background with React.js (5 years required).
• Experience with HTML5 and CSS Frameworks (5 years required).
• Strong knowledge of ADA, WCAG 2.1, Section 508 compliance policies, and User Experience design principles (5 years required).
• Experience with current JAVA and relevant IDE tools such as Eclipse/Jboss Developer Studio (3 years required).
• Experience programming with the JPA framework (2 years required).
• Experience programming with the current Spring framework (2 years required).
• Experience programming with Spring Boot and Spring Data (2 years required).
• Experience programming with Java 8+ (3 years required).
• Experience in an Agile development environment (2 years required).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience programming in the JBOSS Enterprise environment (2 years desired).
