About the position

The Engineer will play a crucial role in a multidisciplinary delivery team, focusing on the deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, and maintenance of critical issues in production environments. This position requires a strong background in Java and API development, along with hands-on experience in containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift. The Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of applications, leading complex initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in application performance, architecture, design, and resiliency. In this role, the Engineer will utilize their extensive experience in production management leadership and application/platform monitoring to address incidents and manage changes effectively. They will employ ticketing tools like Service Now, Remedy, and CA Service Desk to facilitate incident management processes. The Engineer will also be expected to demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills, guiding the team towards root cause identification and recommending long-term solutions across multiple platforms. The position demands solid experience in a 24/7 uptime environment, with a focus on automation using configuration management tools. The Engineer will have a deep understanding of various technologies, including Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, and WebSphere products, and will be adept at implementing microservices architecture. They will also be responsible for analyzing load test results and making recommendations for performance tuning, ensuring that the infrastructure is automated, scalable, and maintainable. Additionally, the Engineer will leverage their scripting skills in shell, Python, and Perl to automate software builds and configuration management tasks.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Unix, Oracle, SQL, DB@, and scheduling tools.
  • 5+ years of experience with WebSphere application server, Web Logic, Tomcat, JBoss, Liberty, IBM HTTP Server, IIS, and Apache.
  • 5+ years of experience in production management leadership and application/platform monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with incident/change/problem management and ticketing tools like Service Now, Remedy, and CA Service Desk.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on root cause identification and long-term resolution.
  • Solid experience in application production support in a 24/7 uptime environment.
  • Extensive experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, OpenShift, and various WebSphere products.
  • Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP).
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Technology concepts and service models (PaaS, AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD, GIT, Maven, Eclipse, JIRA, and Confluence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Perl for automation.
  • Familiarity with performance tuning and load testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of additional cloud service providers and technologies.
