About the position

The General Manager I (GM) position at Jersey Mike's is responsible for managing a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of restaurants, ensuring high operational and financial standards are met. The GM oversees staffing, training, and daily operations, while also being accountable for the restaurant's profitability and employee engagement. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to make strategic decisions to drive the success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the restaurant, ensuring all staff understand the importance of these processes.
• Deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility.
• Assign work tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure all shifts are covered.
• Provide consistent support, coaching, and encouragement to restaurant staff to achieve business goals.
• Interview candidates and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions for associates.
• Promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the local community.
• Ensure compliance with onboarding and offboarding processes for all restaurant associates.
• Monitor financial and operational data to track progress towards unit goals.
• Recognize and reward restaurant staff for their contributions and performance.
• Ensure product availability and oversee receiving goods and processing invoices.

Requirements

• 3 years of profit and loss management experience in a restaurant setting.
• Team management experience with a focus on employee engagement.
• Demonstrated restaurant experience, preferably in QSR or similar environments.
• Ability to read and understand financial and operational reports.

Nice-to-haves

• Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for some experience requirements.
• Knowledge of HMSHost policies and products.
