About the position

Tiffany and Company is seeking talented Jewelry CAD Designers to join our Jewelry Design and Innovation Workshop (JDIW) located in New York City. This position offers a dynamic work environment where cutting-edge technology is utilized to inspire the creation of meticulously crafted jewelry products that embody the exceptional beauty of Tiffany. The CAD Designer will play a crucial role in supporting all aspects of JDIW projects, focusing on ensuring design and product integrity throughout the development life-cycle for all projects flowing through the workshop. The CAD Designer will be responsible for five key accountabilities: Prototype & File Creation, Communication, Support for Cross Functional Partners, Collaboration & Leadership, and Technology Leadership. Each of these functions will align with Universal performance accountabilities, including Strategy, Innovation & Creativity; Execution & Product Excellence; Collaboration & Partnerships; and Expertise & Judgment. The role will also require formal training and advanced knowledge and experience in CAD design and jewelry manufacturing processes. In the Prototype & File Creation aspect, the CAD Designer will interface with various teams, including Design Creative, Manufacturing, and JDIW teams, to ensure product functionality and technical design elements are met. This includes translating design concepts into reality, creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, and preparing engineering and design materials in compliance with archiving procedures. The designer will also be responsible for providing innovative CAD solutions to complex mechanical problems throughout the production life-cycle. Effective communication is essential, as the CAD Designer will establish and monitor timelines, update workflow tracking documents, and proactively flag critical issues that may impact design aesthetics or manufacturing quality. Collaboration with cross-functional partners is key, as the designer will oversee the process from concept design through product development, ensuring alignment with creative and business needs. As a technology leader, the CAD Designer will research and operationalize innovative processes during the design and prototyping stages, develop new CAD workflows, and remain current with industry standards. This role requires a high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to urgent timelines under high demand conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Design Creative, Manufacturing & JDIW teams on product functionality and technical design elements.
  • Translate design concepts into reality by planning, creating, and maintaining 3D CAD models.
  • Ensure all models adhere to modeling best practices and manufacturing standards.
  • Create and maintain 2-D and 3-D shared design standards and specifications across product families.
  • Prepare engineering and design materials in compliance with archiving procedures.
  • Establish and monitor individual timelines and ensure adherence to overall project timelines.
  • Communicate effectively to keep the team updated on project status, issues, and concerns.
  • Partner with JDIW and design team to oversee the process from concept design through product development.
  • Collaborate with JDIW Project Team to provide direction during prototyping phases.
  • Research and operationalize innovative processes during the design lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Jewelry Design, Jewelry Arts, Industrial or Fashion Design, or Engineering.
  • Significant CAD and model making training and experience.
  • Expert skill-set in Rhino, Modo, SolidWorks, T-Splines, Z-Brush, Adobe CS, KeyShot, V-Ray, and Maxwell.
  • Manufacturing knowledge of jewelry and/or related industries.
  • Formal creative design training and experience with a high degree of aesthetic sensibility.
  • Extensive experience working with diverse materials and gemstones/diamonds.
  • Significant experience building, repairing, and troubleshooting metalsmithing/materials manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player with a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to adapt and meet urgent timelines under high demand conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal goldsmithing and/or metalsmithing training.
  • 3-5 years experience as a custom bench jeweler.
  • Gemological training with GIA or FGA diploma.
  • Formal gem- and diamond-setting training and experience.
  • Industry Certification.
