About the position

The JHU Human Resources Business Systems Analyst role is a pivotal position within the Johns Hopkins Sightline Business Modernization Project, aimed at transforming and optimizing human resources processes through the implementation of a new ERP system. This role is not just about managing systems; it is about unleashing the potential of the people at Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System. The project is designed to simplify processes and enhance technology, allowing employees to focus on their core missions: research, teaching, patient care, and community impact. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will be part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial team that thrives in fast-paced environments, tackling daily challenges and opportunities. You will work closely with HR stakeholders to document current processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement innovative solutions that streamline HR functions such as employee lifecycle management, talent acquisition, performance management, and compliance. Your contributions will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall employee experience through system enhancements and best practices. The position encompasses four distinct levels of expertise: Business Systems Analyst I, II, Senior, and Lead. Each level has specific responsibilities and expectations, ranging from understanding and documenting basic HR processes to providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for a team of analysts. Successful candidates will be assigned to a specific level based on their experience and education, ensuring that each analyst can contribute effectively to the project’s success. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HR stakeholders to document current HR processes.
  • Identify improvement opportunities within the HR functional area.
  • Implement innovative solutions to streamline HR processes.
  • Contribute to testing and training activities, including documentation and execution.
  • Serve as a business function and system expert for specific modules of the ERP system.
  • Lead project management for smaller sub-projects within the HR functional area.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts.
  • Ensure effective execution of core discovery, implementation, and testing activities for the HR functional area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required for all levels.
  • Business Systems Analyst I: 4 years of experience in HR or systems analysis; 2 years as an ERP user.
  • Business Systems Analyst II: 6 years of experience in HR or systems analysis; 3 years as an ERP user.
  • Senior Business Systems Analyst: 8 years of experience in HR or systems analysis; 4 years as an ERP user.
  • Lead Business Systems Analyst: 10 years of experience in HR or systems analysis; 6 years as an ERP user; experience leading projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education, academic medical centers, or healthcare settings.
  • Experience with cloud-based ERP solutions like Workday, Oracle, or SAP.
  • Experience in scoping, requirements gathering, documentation, testing, training, and support.
  • Strategic leadership experience for the Lead position.
