About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator will support the Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center (JITTC-N) located at Nellis Air Force Base, NV. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the continuous operation of multi-user Linux computer systems, enabling the team to effectively carry out their mission. This position involves a variety of tasks including system setup, software installation, troubleshooting, and user support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous operation of multi-user Linux computer systems.
• Set up administrator and service accounts.
• Install system-wide software and allocate mass storage space.
• Perform configuration and troubleshooting of systems, both desktop and server-based.
• Optimize system operation and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
• Assist users in accessing and using systems.
• Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.
• Make recommendations for purchasing hardware and software, coordinate installation, and provide backup recovery.
• Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
• Maintain system documentation.

Requirements

• Experience with Linux operating systems and administration.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for both desktop and server environments.
• Ability to optimize system performance and resource utilization.
• Experience in system capacity analysis and planning.
• Familiarity with user support and training.
• Knowledge of hardware and software evaluation and procurement.
