About the position
The JJYS Technician II position at the Farmington Youth Center is designed for individuals passionate about working with at-risk youth. This role involves providing support and guidance to young individuals in various settings, including detention centers and community-based programs, with the goal of promoting positive behavioral outcomes and aiding in their transition to adulthood. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS) team.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
- Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
- Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
- Assist the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
- Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques
- Participate in New Employee Training and verbal/physical de-escalation training within the first 90 days of hire
- Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to youth offenders while assuring public safety
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing.
Requirements
- Candidates must be 19 years of age or older
- Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED
- Candidates with lived experience in the juvenile justice or child welfare systems are preferred
- Candidates must possess a valid Utah Driver's License.
