About the position

The Personal Care Assistant position at Lebanon High School is designed to provide essential support to students who are severely impaired, medically fragile, or exhibit severe behavioral challenges. The primary focus of this role is to assist individual students or groups of students in a manner that ensures their safety and well-being while promoting their academic and personal development. The assistant will work under the direct supervision of a teacher and will be responsible for implementing specific student plans and protocols as determined by the district. This role emphasizes personal care, with academic assistance being a secondary responsibility. In this position, the Personal Care Assistant will perform a variety of skilled nursing tasks as delegated by a Registered Nurse, as well as implement Positive Behavior Support Systems interventions under the guidance of a Student Services Program Consultant or Special Education Teacher. Responsibilities include providing personal care such as oral hygiene, diapering, feeding, dressing, and grooming. The assistant will also document clinical observations and nursing care, as well as student behavioral data and intervention data. Additionally, the role involves carrying out nursing care plans, including physical rehabilitation tasks and comprehensive student management plans that incorporate behavior strategies. The Personal Care Assistant will assist in developing and executing individual programs of instruction and support for designated students, ensuring that all activities align with the students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The assistant will also participate in staffing or parent meetings as directed and will be expected to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
