About the position

The Embedded Software Engineering Manager at Azure Summit Technology is responsible for leading a team of technical personnel in the development and integration of advanced RF systems. This role combines functional management with direct program responsibilities, focusing on both staff development and technical leadership in software engineering projects. The position requires a balance of management duties and hands-on technical work, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative solutions for national defense applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a department of approximately 5 to 10 technical personnel, focusing on staff management including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, and performance management.
  • Lead software engineering technical work, including project planning, status tracking, and task estimation.
  • Define detailed tasks and report on task status periodically.
  • Oversee the design, development, modification, integration, and evaluation of complex signals intelligence, radar, and communications systems.
  • Conduct all aspects of software engineering, including requirements analysis, software design, implementation, integration, testing, and installation.

Requirements

  • US citizenship due to the nature of the work and contract requirement.
  • Active DoD TOP SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET SCI.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Java or C/C++.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading development and integration of prototype RF systems in communications, radar, signals intelligence, or electronic warfare domains.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a functional software engineering manager.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with Java or C/C++.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading development and integration of prototype and/or production RF mission systems.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills with a record of success in writing winning proposals.
