The Job Accommodations Specialist at Tulane University plays a crucial role in supporting staff and faculty members with disabilities, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to Tulane staff and faculty members with disabilities as defined by the ADA.
  • Conduct disability eligibility analyses and approve reasonable accommodations.
  • Connect individuals with accessible services to support their employment goals.
  • Educate campus constituencies regarding support for individuals with disabilities.
  • Facilitate compliance with the ADA/ADAAA and related regulations and university policies.
  • Assess and interpret individual client needs and make appropriate referrals.
  • Deliver effective presentations to large and small audiences.
  • Maintain confidentiality while managing and imparting sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field.
  • 3+ years of Employee Relations, Accommodations, Leave of Absence, and/or Case Management experience in the disability/worker's compensation/FMLA counseling arena.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ADA regulations, guidelines, and standards applicable to a workplace setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and related Federal and State privacy laws and regulations.
  • Strong listening, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to assess and interpret individual client needs and make appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
