About the position

The Guild for Human Services is dedicated to educating, encouraging, and empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to help them achieve their full potential. The position involves assisting in the development and taking primary responsibility for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of a program of Employment Services. This program focuses on teaching the skills and behaviors necessary for employment and career path pursuits for students within the day program.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise clients in worksites, including training individual students and ensuring satisfactory completion of their work.
  • Report directly to worksite managers, discussing problems and coordinating schedules while assuming complete responsibility for satisfactory performance at the worksite.
  • Assess student capabilities and interests to ensure a match with training and employment opportunities.
  • Assist in the development of the vocational portion of the Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Represent students and the program positively to visitors and the community, providing a professional role model for staff and students.
  • Acquire job-related skills through participation in external and in-service training and evaluation, including working flexible hours as needed.

Requirements

  • B.A. in a related field and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience in direct service with a similar population, preferably in a community-based program.
  • Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements.
  • Physically and emotionally able to work extended and flexible hours.
