About the position

The Job Coach at Peak Community Services is responsible for providing high-quality support and services to clients, particularly those with disabilities. The role involves working closely with individuals to help them achieve their career goals, while also liaising with community employers to create job opportunities. The position requires a commitment to quality and integrity, as well as the ability to advocate for clients and assist them in overcoming barriers to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Job Development Services by contacting community employers to develop, job carve, and/or identify job opportunities for employment service clients.
  • Educate prospective employers about various disabilities and resulting vocational implications, assistive technological devices, job accommodations, agency services, and current disability-related legislation affecting the employer.
  • Act as a liaison between community employers, Vocational Rehabilitation, and agency Employment Services Program.
  • Conduct job analysis and task analysis as required to facilitate consumer placement and job training.
  • Maintain appropriate record keeping, including individual case notes, monthly progress reports, employer contact forms, and statistical data.
  • Provide direct instruction and fading supervision of clients in the performance of their job duties at community job sites.
  • Provide follow-along services to clients placed in community jobs.
  • Evaluate consumer work performance using interviews with consumers and their supervisors, on-site observations, and completion of worker evaluation forms.
  • Attend required staff meetings and in-service training, including the required EST 100 training.
  • Assist clients with achieving personal goals and overcoming barriers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and valid auto insurance are required.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, and squatting.
  • Basic computer skills including sending and receiving emails and entering data.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Must pass a TB test and complete required training programs.

  • Experience working with persons with disabilities is preferred.
  • Interest in listening and exploring a person's opinion for career opportunities.
