About the position

The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in all aspects of coaching basketball. The 2024-2025 Girls Basketball season begins November 28 and ends January 31, 2025. This position is a paid stipend dependent on verified, paid coaching experience. Begins at $2,286.00 with step 10 at $3,128.00.

Responsibilities

  • Coach/Supervise students at sport practices sessions, training programs, and events.
  • Verbally and physically assist students to ensure proper techniques and understanding of the sport.
  • Comply and meet all Granite Falls School District procedures and policies and WIAA Co-curricular Standards Requirements and Regulations.
  • Practice sessions, training programs, supervision of athletes and all equipment, player eligibility.
  • Co-organize and supervise all fund raising activities.
  • Promote positive attitude and academic achievement.
  • Monitor player eligibility.
  • Demonstrate proper use of equipment and ensure safety rules and regulations are applied.
  • Ensure proper storage of equipment; ensure inventory is maintained.
  • Observe all district safety policies and procedures and equipment maintenance and operation guidelines.
  • Monitor student behavior; model appropriate behavior; correct behaviors and maintain discipline according to established policies and procedures.
  • Provide encouragement and reinforcement of positive student behavior.
  • Communicate with athletic director concerning individual student and/or program needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with secondary-level students.
  • Success experience coaching organized basketball required.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the game of basketball.
  • Demonstrated organizational and motivational skills.
  • Successful experience in behavior management techniques.
  • Demonstrated technical and tactical skills required.
  • Demonstrated relationship and leadership skills with adults and athletes required.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize activities, follow and give instructions, ability to remain flexible.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with parents, administrators, staff, and students in a variety of settings.
  • Current first aid/CPR card required; Annual HIV training required.
