Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or closely related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience, including two years in budget preparation, justification, analysis, or administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial, budgetary, and accounting principles and practices.
  • General knowledge of the purpose, functions, and fiscal organization of the campus(es).
  • Working knowledge of public finance, fiscal management, and cash-flow management principles.
  • Advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Ability to analyze and review budgets and financial practices, and communicate complex information clearly.
  • Ability to prepare complex financial statements and reports, and understand laws and rules.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience with a high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage time effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Five years or more of budget or accounting experience
  • Master's Degree in a related field (business, accounting, public administration)
  • Experience in a PeopleSoft environment
  • Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment.
