The Sr. Java Developer position is a long-term contract role based in Reston, VA, focused on designing, discussing, and implementing complex software solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development and be capable of adhering to intricate design specifications while working independently.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and implement software solutions based on complex specifications.
• Re-engineer existing systems and develop multi-tier application architectures.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding project requirements and progress.

Requirements

• At least 8+ years of experience as a developer.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Java EE development.
• Experience with web-based applications and MVC architecture frameworks.
• Knowledge of web services including SOAP and REST, and related frameworks such as Apache Axis, Jersey, and Spring.
• Proficient in XML and JSON, including DTD, schema modeling, DOM, SAX, and JSON parsing.
• Experience with JavaScript and AJAX.
• Strong SQL and JDBC skills.
• Familiarity with the Spring framework and Hibernate or other ORM frameworks.
• Experience with Java EE containers such as Weblogic, Websphere, and Tomcat.
• Knowledge of build tools like Ant, Maven, or Gradle.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as ClearCase, SVN, or Perforce.
