About the position

The Bank Credit Risk Analyst I at USAA plays a crucial role in identifying and managing credit risk within consumer credit portfolios. This position utilizes quantitative methods to develop credit strategies, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with banking regulations. The analyst will work collaboratively with various teams to optimize growth while mitigating risks, ultimately contributing to the financial security of military members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Identify credit risks and opportunities within the portfolio using analytical skills and industry practices.
  • Develop and deliver credit risk strategies to optimize profitable growth within risk appetite.
  • Monitor credit performance and internal/external factors affecting credit strategy.
  • Conduct financial risk sensitivity analysis and develop comprehensive risk reporting for management oversight.
  • Support junior team members in analytics and risk management.
  • Collaborate with partners to implement key initiatives and ensure compliance with risk policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a Mathematical subject area; or 4 years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 4 years of experience in an analytical field focused on credit risk data analysis and financial analysis activities; or an advanced degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Understanding of banking regulations, risk, and compliance.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Good business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, SAS, Python, or R.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience with Python, SAS, or SQL for data analysis.
  • Experience in credit risk management for consumer lending products.
  • Familiarity with Credit Karma LightBox strategy or NPV models for consumer lending.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives.
  • US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
