About the position

The Logistics Specialist position at Ryder in Spring Hill, TN, is a critical role within our Supply Chain Solutions division. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about logistics and supply chain management, and who thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Logistics Specialist will serve as an end-user facing phone-support person, primarily responsible for answering incoming calls from drivers and staff, resolving questions, providing direction, and addressing hours-of-service issues to ensure compliance with federal regulations. This role also involves some light-duty audit and analytic work, including outbound calling to address any detected issues. In addition to phone support, the Logistics Specialist will be involved in the sales process, collaborating with sales and operations teams to develop concepts and implement their designs. This includes providing proposal support, gathering and analyzing data, and acquiring product knowledge. The position requires adherence to process methodologies and active participation in the design and engineering of supply chain services, which encompass network analysis, transportation, distribution management, strategy, and process management. Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls and provide support to drivers and staff.
  • Resolve questions and provide direction regarding hours-of-service issues.
  • Perform basic analytic work and outbound calling to address detected issues.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations to develop concepts and implement designs.
  • Provide proposal support and assist in data gathering and analysis.
  • Participate in the design and engineering of supply chain services, including network analysis and transportation management.
  • Adhere to process methodologies and assist operations management with continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Business required.
  • One (1) year or more of industry-related experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to listen, write, and speak effectively to inform and give instructions.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to perform data gathering and analysis.
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices.
