About the position

The Journal Editor for the Journal of Asian Health (JAH) at Stanford's Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE) will provide administrative and editorial management to enhance the journal's impact in advancing Asian health research. This role involves overseeing the publication process, managing editorial tasks, and developing strategies for growth and outreach, all while collaborating closely with the Editor in Chief.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Journal publication process from submission to publication.
• Manage the editorial process, including commissioning, editing, design, production, and publication.
• Coordinate management of the publication's electronic systems and platforms.
• Establish and maintain communication with internal clients and external media outlets.
• Develop a sustainable growth strategy for the Journal, including marketing and outreach.
• Track and assist with reporting CARE-affiliated research and initiatives.
• Assist with copyediting grant submissions for key CARE faculty.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of communications, public relations, and editorial content principles.
• Experience editing manuscripts for form, content, style, and organization.
• Ability to work effectively with senior organizational leaders, scientists, and faculty.
• Strong critical thinking skills to resolve editorial and publication issues.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior work experience for an academic journal.
• Familiarity with publishing systems and medical literature.
• Experience conducting source-gathering and performing research for content.
