The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking passionate journalists to join the third cohort of the Scripps Journalism Journey Initiative, a program designed to transition experienced print journalists into the realm of broadcast and video-driven storytelling. With a rich history of 146 years in journalism, Scripps is committed to innovating new ways to tell compelling stories. Journalists selected for this initiative will be placed in various roles within Scripps' local or national newsrooms, where they will receive extensive training, coaching, and support to facilitate their transition into video-driven storytelling. The program aims to equip journalists with the necessary skills to thrive in a fast-paced media environment, focusing on creating high-quality content across multiple platforms. Participants in the Journalism Journey Initiative will assume full-time journalism positions, reporting to either local media or national newsrooms. They will engage in initial and ongoing group training sessions, which may include attending journalism conferences, seminars, and workshops. The program emphasizes the importance of practice, feedback, and coaching to enhance participants' storytelling abilities. Journalists will be involved in the editorial process, producing news stories, newscasts, and digital content, while also preparing to supervise the work of others. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to mentor peers and future members of the initiative, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. The Scripps Journalism Journey Initiative is a partnership between The E.W. Scripps Company and Google, aimed at providing mid-career transitions for journalists with primarily print backgrounds into broadcast news careers. This initiative not only focuses on skill development but also emphasizes the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion within the workplace, ensuring that all employees feel valued and inspired to reach their full potential.
