About the position

Radio Free Asia (RFA) Tibetan Service is seeking a skilled multimedia journalist to plan and execute the entire cycle of news production, creating compelling content for radio, TV, and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, highly motivated multi-platform content creator who can deliver high-quality daily and enterprise content to meet the evolving needs of the audience. This full-time position is based in Washington, DC, and is set to open in December 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Research, report, and produce high-quality, unbiased multimedia content including daily spot news coverage and long-form features.
  • Conduct live and pre-recorded interviews for various mediums and platforms, ensuring quick turnaround of news stories that are fact-based and relevant.
  • Produce and package daily news stories, feature programs, and special reports from conception to promotion.
  • Build and maintain sources in your area of specialization to break exclusive stories and enrich multimedia content.
  • Leverage innovative storytelling formats across digital and social media platforms to grow RFA Tibetan's online presence.
  • Apply editorial judgment to identify suitable news content for different audiences and collaborate with team members to meet deadlines.
  • Use production equipment and edit audio and video reports with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
  • Participate in website content management and social media to foster audience engagement through high-quality journalism.
  • Execute other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in multimedia journalism with a focus on producing high-quality content.
  • Strong interviewing skills for live and pre-recorded formats.
  • Ability to produce and package news stories from conception to promotion.
  • Experience in building and maintaining sources for exclusive stories.
  • Proficiency in digital storytelling formats and social media engagement.
  • Excellent editorial judgment and collaboration skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with production equipment and professional audio/video editing concepts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with archival footage and public records research.
  • Knowledge of the Tibetan audience and cultural context.
  • Familiarity with various digital platforms and trends in multimedia storytelling.
