About the position

As an OPIS PCW Journalist at Dow Jones, you will play a crucial role in the collection and analysis of trade data to provide daily assessments for the benchmarked US Olefins and Aromatics markets. This position is remote, but candidates must be based in Houston or nearby cities for reasonable commuting. Your primary responsibilities will include accumulating spot market price transactions from industry participants through various communication channels, verifying the legitimacy of these transactions, and adhering to OPIS pricing methodology to create daily price assessments. You will also be responsible for creating breaking and feature news alerts, contributing to PCW reports, and compiling and publishing these reports. Networking and fostering relationships with sources and market participants will be essential, as will participating in webinars, podcasts, demonstrations, and blogs to enhance the visibility and credibility of OPIS PetroChem Wire. In this role, you will work closely with senior editors to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the content produced. Your contributions will not only inform our customers but also help them make smarter, more informed decisions in the complex petrochemical market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in market pricing and reporting, with a preference for those who have experience in daily publication. Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, and Python will be advantageous, as will the ability to travel for industry conferences. Responsibilities

  • Accumulate spot market price transactions from industry participants via email, instant messaging, and phone.
  • Verify the legitimacy of transactions and adhere to OPIS pricing methodology to create daily price assessments.
  • Create breaking and feature news alerts/text messages about olefins, aromatics, and other petrochemical markets.
  • Contribute copy and editing to PCW reports.
  • Compile and publish PCW reports.
  • Network and foster relationships with sources, resources, and market participants.
  • Participate in webinars, podcasts, demonstrations, and blogs.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree; preferably in Business, Data Science, Journalism or related area of study.
  • 3 years' market pricing and reporting experience.
  • Daily publication experience (preferred).
  • Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook and Python proficiency (preferred).
  • Ability to travel and attend industry conferences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the petrochemical industry.
  • Familiarity with energy commodities and market dynamics.
