About the position
Nash Construction, Inc. is seeking a skilled Journeyman Carpenter to join our team in Truckee, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and be able to perform a variety of tasks related to the construction and repair of structures. This position requires a commitment to quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety protocols. The successful candidate will work closely with other team members to ensure that projects are completed on time and to specifications. The role involves working with various materials, including wood, plywood, and wallboard, and requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. The Journeyman Carpenter will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures, as well as performing maintenance and repairs as needed. This is a full-time position with an expected work schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with 8-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry work in accordance with blueprints, building codes, and specifications
- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials
- Install cabinets, siding, drywall, windows, doors, and hardware
- Build concrete forms for pouring concrete
- Install floor systems, including joists and subflooring
- Repair or replace damaged framework or other structures
- Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Requirements
- Journeyman/Journeywoman Carpenter certification or equivalent experience
- Proficient in various carpentry techniques and tools
- Experience with plastering, concrete forming, remodeling, roof installation/repair, mold remediation, tile laying, and construction painting
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret construction drawings
- Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Excellent mathematical skills for measuring and calculating dimensions
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects
- Attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues on the job site
