About the position

The Journeyman Computer Hardware Engineer position at DIGIT involves providing hands-on support at the GSA Stennis Data Center in Hancock County, MS. The role requires problem-solving skills and flexibility in a dynamic environment, with responsibilities including troubleshooting complex issues related to data center services, collaborating with various IT teams, and managing hardware deployment and decommissioning.

Responsibilities

• Inventory validation of data center compute, storage, networking, and environmental support equipment.
• Collaborating with various IT teams to facilitate change management, logistics, and coordination.
• Facilitating the packaging and shipping of equipment to alternate data centers.
• Coordinating with Data Center Operations on the install at destination data centers.
• Develop and execute Data Center technical drawings (ex. rack elevations, floor layouts).
• Capacity Expansion of servers, storage, and network devices.
• Be intensely involved in design, build, migration, and capacity expansion; work on the problems and contribute to the solution development.
• Responsible for coordinating new hardware deployment and decommissioning of existing hardware.
• Responsible for hands-on Equipment Troubleshooting, Parts replacement, and Vendor escorting.

Requirements

• Public Trust Clearance by start date.
• ITILv4 Foundation Training and ITILv4 Foundation Certification, may be obtained within 120 days after hire.
• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience as a Data Center Engineer.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4-9 years).
• Experience with Physical Data Center Projects.
