About the position

The Journeyman Cybersecurity Engineer & Analyst at Canvas will play a crucial role in providing direct Assessment & Authorization (A&A) support to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) for all directorate Mission Information Systems. This position involves Cybersecurity Analysis & Engineering support to ensure the secure operations of enterprise networks, systems, and critical mission data. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, updating, and accomplishing Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) entries and updates, as well as coordinating and staffing A&A packages in accordance with DoDI 8510.01 Risk Management Framework. In addition to maintaining and preparing mission systems C&A schedules and package status reports, the engineer will register named mission systems in ITIPS, ensuring compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). The role requires reviewing enterprise mission systems certification policies, programs, procedures, and reports for both initial and follow-on system releases, documenting findings with suggested changes. The engineer will also administer enterprise mission systems information assurance telecoms and eMASS database updates, conduct research and analysis to assess security posture, and monitor the Vulnerability Management System. The position includes conducting and documenting Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) and physical security penetration tests on enterprise mission systems, revalidating information assurance and cyber controls, and assessing Higher Headquarters directed changes in A&A policy requirements. This role is essential for maintaining the security posture of mission systems and ensuring compliance with various DoD directives and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct Assessment & Authorization support to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) for all directorate Mission Information Systems.
  • Develop, update, and accomplish Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) entries and updates.
  • Coordinate and staff A&A packages in accordance with DoDI 8510.01 Risk Management Framework.
  • Maintain, prepare, and distribute mission systems C&A schedules and package status reports.
  • Register named mission systems in ITIPS in compliance with FISMA.
  • Review enterprise mission systems certification policies, programs, procedures, and reports for initial and follow-on system releases.
  • Administer enterprise mission systems information assurance telecoms and eMASS database updates.
  • Conduct research and analysis to assess security posture and impact of new systems, devices, and programs.
  • Monitor and maintain the Vulnerability Management System by entering all closed Technical Compliance Network Orders into the DISA database.
  • Review security control implementation within the Test and Evaluation Management Plan (TEMP).
  • Conduct and document Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) and physical security penetration tests on enterprise mission systems.
  • Revalidate information assurance and cyber controls for accredited enterprise mission systems.
  • Assess Higher Headquarters directed changes in the A&A policy requirements for their impact on mission system security posture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing similar job duties.
  • Experience working in eMASS (Mission Systems Assessment & Authorization).
  • Security +/ DOD 8570 Certification IAT Level II.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent (i.e. SANS GIAC) is highly desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-10 years of experience performing similar job duties for USSF or another related DoD organization.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework protocols.
  • Familiarity with USSF A&A procedure.
  • Excellent and detail-oriented organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills.
  • Advanced-level competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
